World Ignores Millions in Crisis

Summary
- Millions of displaced people face neglect from the international community.
- Sudan crisis is a top neglected displacement with 11 million displaced.
- Democratic Republic of Congo faces its 10th year on the neglected list.

The international community is largely abandoning millions of displaced people worldwide, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) reported.
This neglect stems from a failure to address crises not considered strategically vital by wealthy nations, according to NRC Secretary General Jan Egeland. The organization's annual report identifies major gaps in global humanitarian responses.
Sudan now heads the list of neglected displacement crises. Over three years of civil war have displaced more than 11 million people internally and in neighboring states, with nearly 29 million facing severe food insecurity.
The Democratic Republic of Congo appears for the tenth consecutive year on the NRC's list. The UN estimates over 7 million are internally displaced there, exacerbated by numerous armed groups operating in the eastern regions.
