Param Vir Chakra Hero Inspires Youth

Twenty-seven years after the Kargil War, Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, the youngest recipient of India's highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra, carries the vivid memories of Tiger Hill. Awarded the honour at 19 for extraordinary courage, Yadav emphasizes that the medal does not define him, but rather the sacrifice of his six comrades lost on July 3-4, 1999.

Yadav, who joined the Indian Army in 1996, bravely led his battalion's Ghatak platoon up a steep cliff to assault enemy bunkers during the Battle of Tiger Hill. Despite sustaining multiple bullet wounds, he continued the mission, playing a vital role in capturing the strategic peak. He now channels the memory of his fallen comrades into a mission to inspire.

For the past four years, Yadav has dedicated himself to youth mentorship, interacting with over nine lakh children nationwide. His focus is on guiding the youth towards lives of discipline, integrity, and service. He believes that every Indian can be a soldier by performing their duty with honesty and to the best of their ability, viewing a healthy mind and body as a service to the nation.
