Pakistani intelligence agency ISI's honeytrap tactics in Jammu have evolved to include high-tech surveillance. Authorities recently arrested Aman, a 24-year-old truck driver from Kathua, under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly setting up a live feed for Pakistani handlers. He was lured through social media and tasked with reconnaissance of military installations.
Aman installed a SIM-enabled CCTV camera outside his residence, angled towards a road frequently used by security forces. This camera allegedly livestreamed footage to his handlers, for which he received Rs 20,000 via a Dubai-based channel. This case marks a shift from previous methods, such as the May arrest of Karan Kumar, who was trapped via explicit calls and paid Rs 2,000 for photos.
This is the second ISI network busted in Jammu in four months, indicating a trend towards continuous digital surveillance. A similar module was previously uncovered in Pathankot, involving a camera monitoring the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway. Police have issued advisories warning youth in border areas about fake profiles on social media platforms.
