Summary
- ITBP is establishing 10 all-women border posts along the India-China LAC.
- Over 215 ITBP border posts have been moved forward along the north and eastern flank.
- New skilling modules include mountain warfare and tactical survival for troops.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is bolstering its presence along the 3,488 km India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) through a strategic 'forwardisation' plan. This initiative includes the establishment of 10 all-women border posts, with two already slated for Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, 215 border outposts have been advanced along the northern and eastern frontiers, significantly increasing the force's operational reach.
The expansion, supported by seven new battalions and a sector headquarters, enhances supervision of forward areas. The ITBP, with over one lakh personnel, operates in harsh conditions at high altitudes, facing extreme weather and low oxygen levels. The force aims to establish 41 more forward bases to further strengthen security and coordination.
In a move to enhance the role of women combatants, the ITBP is setting up these dedicated all-women outposts. The force has also revamped its training institutions, introducing five new skilling modules focused on critical areas like mountain warfare and tactical survival, ensuring troops are well-prepared for the demanding border environment.
