Israelis Fly Home Amidst Mideast Conflict
5 Mar
Summary
- Rescue flights carrying Israelis home have commenced.
- Around 100,000 Israelis were stranded abroad when war began.
- Tel Aviv airspace remains limited due to ongoing rocket attacks.

The first rescue flights organized for stranded Israeli travellers have successfully landed at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv.
This marks the commencement of a significant campaign by Israeli airlines, including El Al and Israir, to bring citizens back home. Additional flights are slated to operate in the coming days.
Israel's airspace was immediately closed to civilian aircraft following the outbreak of war in the Middle East on Saturday. The number of flights permitted to land in Tel Aviv remains restricted due to continuing rocket attacks emanating from Iran and Lebanon.
Israir Airlines is offering return flights to customers from various European cities such as Rome, Berlin, and Athens. An alternative route involves travelling through the Egyptian border town of Taba, from where passengers are then transported by bus to Tel Aviv.
Reports indicate that roughly 100,000 Israeli citizens were stranded overseas when the conflict initially escalated.
