31 Mar
Summary
- Eleven premature babies evacuated in 2023 returned to Gaza from Egypt.
- The infants were cared for at Shifa Hospital during intense fighting.
- Families express joy mixed with concern for their children's future.

Two years after being evacuated from Gaza's Shifa Hospital, eleven premature toddlers have returned from Egypt. These infants were initially in the neonatal intensive care unit in November 2023 when a blackout forced their evacuation due to dire conditions and damaged hospital facilities.
Doctors had to provide alternative heat sources for the vulnerable newborns, with three tragically dying before the evacuation. While some of the thirty-one initially evacuated children have since passed away or their fates remain unknown, these eleven, along with caregivers, arrived on Monday.
