Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend Canceled Due to Works
11 Feb
Summary
- Annual Cleethorpes parade canceled due to ongoing resort works.
- Construction impacts parade route and event stall locations.
- Some events will relocate to Meridian Showground and Boating Lake.

The community parade marking the start of the annual Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend has been canceled. Organizers stated that ongoing resort works have led to insufficient parade route length and resource limitations, impacting the safe management of the community carnival.
Further construction on Pier Gardens means this popular location cannot host stalls and other activities for the weekend, which was scheduled to run from Saturday, June 26. Some events will be relocated to the town's Meridian Showground and the Boating Lake area.
Alex Baxter, managing director of The Armed Forces Major Events Team, emphasized the commitment to holding the weekend. Baxter noted that the team, composed of volunteers, must focus efforts on ensuring the military parade, a highlight of Armed Forces Day, proceeds safely along a modified route this year.
The two-day festival typically attracts thousands of visitors and features displays of military equipment and flypasts, including the Red Arrows. Organizers aim to continue attracting visitors and boosting the local economy despite this year's logistical challenges.
