Cameroon Village Attacked: 15 Dead in Dawn Raid

In a pre-dawn assault on Thursday, September 17, suspected Islamist militants descended upon the village of Madegoua in northern Cameroon, claiming the lives of at least 15 people. The attack, which occurred near the town of Makary, involved insurgents pulling out and executing men after tying them up. Initial reports indicated 13 deaths, with two more victims succumbing to injuries later at a Makary hospital.

This violence underscores the ongoing instability in Cameroon's Far North region, an area that has been plagued by the activities of Boko Haram and other Islamist militant groups operating in the Lake Chad basin for years. The village's strategic location on a route toward Makary has led some residents to suspect the militants enforced an earlier order for them to vacate.
