Ahead of Friday's home football game, Los Gatos High School will feature a military flyover to honor two alumni lost during the September 11, 2001 attacks. The ceremony marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and pays tribute to Mark Bingham and Todd Beamer. Both men were passengers on United Airlines Flight 93.
Two F-15C Eagle fighter jets from the California Air National Guard's 144th Fighter Wing will conduct the flyover before the game against Clovis High School. This initiative, originating from athletics director Kenny Perrotti, comes at no cost to the district. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:46 p.m. at Helm Field.
Flight 93 passengers, including Bingham and Beamer, bravely attempted to regain control of their hijacked plane after learning about the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Their actions prevented the terrorists from reaching their intended target, resulting in the plane crashing in Pennsylvania. Both alumni have been widely recognized for their heroism.
