In a span of 24 hours, six Lebanese paramedics have been killed in two separate Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon. Lebanon's health ministry condemned these actions as violations of international law.
Four paramedics from the Islamic Health Association died in an overnight strike in Hanaway. Subsequently, two medics from the Al-Rissala Scouts Association were killed in Deir Qanoun En-Nahr.
The health ministry released footage appearing to show the moments before the strike in Deir Qanoun En-Nahr. Reuters confirmed the location, showing two medics on the roadside before an apparent airstrike.
These strikes occurred amidst escalating conflict, with over 3,100 people killed in Lebanon since March 2. The casualties include 123 medics, over 210 children, and nearly 300 women.
International humanitarian law protects frontline responders and healthcare workers. However, several hospitals in southern Lebanon have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to Israeli strikes, with one strike near Tebnine Hospital damaging its emergency room and intensive care unit.
