YouTube Premium's individual subscription price has increased to $15.99 per month, effective June 7, 2026. This marks a $2 increase for the individual plan, with family plans now costing $26.99 per month, a $4 hike. The Premium Lite tier, which offers fewer ads, has also risen by $1 to $8.99 per month. These adjustments follow a trend of increasing subscription costs across major streaming platforms.

Concurrent with the price hikes, users are reporting increasingly lengthy ad breaks. While YouTube denies testing a 90-second unskippable ad format, numerous viewers claim to be experiencing them. The company has stated that these extended ad durations are due to an interface bug that inaccurately displays timers for shorter ads and is currently rolling out a fix. This situation leaves users facing a choice between higher subscription fees or more extensive ad interruptions.
