16 May
Summary
- YouTube is expanding an AI tool to detect likeness misuse in videos.
- The tool will be available to all creators aged 18 and over soon.
- Creators can request removal of unauthorized content using the tool.

In the upcoming weeks, YouTube will provide creators aged 18 and above with expanded access to a tool designed to detect the unauthorized use of their likeness in AI-generated videos. This initiative aims to offer creators enhanced protection and peace of mind.
The platform first previewed this feature in 2024 and initially rolled it out to members of its Partner Program. Subsequently, access was extended to journalists and politicians before this latest expansion.
To utilize the tool, users must enroll through YouTube Studio, verify their identity via government ID and a selfie video, and then YouTube will scan uploaded content for potential likeness matches. Users can then review these videos and submit removal requests, with the option to report voice imitation as well.
