Xbox Price Hikes: Console Costs Skyrocket!
25 Jun
Summary
- Xbox consoles will increase by $100 or $150 starting August 1.
- Series S 512GB rises to $500; Series X Digital to $750.
- Memory and storage prices have more than doubled.

Starting August 1, 2026, Xbox consoles will see substantial price increases. The 512GB Xbox Series S will rise by $100 to $500, while the Series X digital edition will jump by $150 to $750. This marks a significant surge, with the Series S now matching the original launch price of the more powerful Series X.
Microsoft attributes these drastic hikes to escalating costs in console storage and memory, which have already more than doubled and are predicted to double again by the fall of 2027. The company stated that these price adjustments were a last resort after exploring options with suppliers.
To ease the financial burden on consumers, Xbox is introducing interest-free installment plans for console purchases. Additionally, certified refurbished consoles sold through Microsoft.com will be available at a discount of up to $100 off the retail price.
These pricing challenges come as Xbox faces production constraints for its current consoles and is rethinking its hardware business model for the upcoming Project Helix console. The company aims to compete with other high-performance devices, even as component costs continue to rise.
