Microsoft is rolling out experimental features for Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing users to leverage their smartphones as game controllers. This functionality is available on select smart TVs, accessed through a browser without needing a separate app. Some games may even feature custom controller layouts for this mobile input method.
Additionally, a new Nano Controller is being introduced, enabling direct Wi-Fi connections to Xbox Cloud Gaming. This aims to minimize input lag for players in the United States. Setup involves using the Xbox beta app on Android or the Xbox Accessories app on PC, with Wi-Fi connectivity requiring enrollment in the Xbox Insider program for PC users.
Both the phone-as-a-controller option and the Nano Controller's Wi-Fi capability are currently in preview. Microsoft has indicated that availability, supported devices, and games may be limited during this testing phase. The Nano Controller's Wi-Fi feature, for instance, is presently restricted to smart TVs and web access.
