Microsoft has introduced substantial upgrades for ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X handheld consoles. A new beta feature offers default game profiles, automatically tuning performance for optimal frame rates and power efficiency, enhancing battery life by up to an hour for titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong.
These enhancements also include a search filter that categorizes games by their performance on the device, akin to Valve's verification system. Responsiveness has been improved, and game libraries, especially for users with extensive collections, will now load considerably faster. The cloud gaming experience has also been optimized for quicker load times.
Further refinements include bug fixes and general performance enhancements, coinciding with the holiday season. With strong consumer interest, these consoles are poised for continued software support, with future updates planned for crossplay indicators, sleep/wake reliability, and microSD card formatting. The Ally X model is also slated to receive AI upscaling next year.
