Microsoft is improving its range of Xbox thumbstick toppers for people with disabilities. The company announced these updates at its Ability Summit, revealing a redesigned seventh accessory shape, the 'goal post' topper. This new design aims to enhance durability and ensure the toppers remain securely attached, even during vigorous gaming sessions, addressing feedback from the disability community.
The initial thumbstick topper accessibility program was launched in 2024. The latest upgrades mark the program's first significant enhancement. The seven available shapes will now include the 'goal post', plate, dome, narrow stick, 'pull', sphere, and a custom base for moldable materials. These redesigned toppers are scheduled for release on the Xbox Design Lab landing page on Thursday, May 21, which is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. The design files will be available as free downloads for users with access to a 3D printer.
