X's New Feed Lets You Control Your Content

X's head of product, Nikita Bier, announced the launch of custom timelines, a feature designed to give users greater control over their content consumption. This update allows individuals to curate their feed by pinning specific topics to their home tab, enabling them to easily switch between interests like art, business, or movies.

The custom timelines leverage Grok's AI for post understanding, combined with the platform's personalization algorithms. Users can select from 75 available topics, with the personalization being more effective for subjects they frequently engage with. This functionality draws parallels to similar features introduced by Bluesky and Threads in recent years.

Currently, X's custom timelines are in early access, exclusively for Premium subscribers on iOS. The company plans to roll out the feature to Premium users on Android in the near future. Additionally, X has introduced a tool for Premium users to temporarily snooze topics on the 'For You' tab for 24 hours.
