World's AI ID Tech Integrates With Tinder Globally
18 Apr
Summary
- World's verification tech will now power Tinder globally.
- New features aim to combat AI bots in dating and ticketing.
- Tiers of verification include Orb, ID scan, and selfie check.

Sam Altman's World project is broadening its reach, announcing significant integrations for its AI-human verification technology. The company, Tools for Humanity, revealed plans to deploy its verification systems across dating apps, ticketing platforms, business organizations, and email services. This expansion is notably marked by a global rollout of World ID verification with Tinder, following a successful pilot program in Japan.
World's technology, which uses tools like the Orb to create anonymous cryptographic identifiers, aims to distinguish real humans from AI agents. New initiatives include Concert Kit, designed to protect concertgoers from scalpers by reserving tickets for verified humans, with partnerships already established with artists like 30 Seconds to Mars and Bruno Mars.
Further business-focused integrations are underway, including a partnership with DocuSign for authentic signatures and a system with Okta to verify that online agents are acting on behalf of a human. To address past scaling difficulties, World is increasing its Orb presence in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and introducing tiered verification options, from high-security Orb scans to a lower-friction selfie check.
These tiered approaches, including an NFC-based government ID scan and a privacy-focused Selfie Check, offer developers flexibility based on their security needs. The Selfie Check prioritizes local processing on user devices to maintain image privacy, although its limitations against sophisticated spoofing are acknowledged.
