Windows 11 Gets Major Responsiveness Boost
15 Oct
Summary
- Windows 11 is up to 20% more responsive with better memory management.
- More active data stays in memory, reducing reliance on slower storage.
- Updates improve Bluetooth, Windows Hello, and AI-powered Search features.

Microsoft is rolling out substantial Windows 11 updates designed to boost system responsiveness by up to 20%. These enhancements are largely attributed to improved memory efficiency and management techniques. The system can now retain a larger volume of active data in memory, reducing the need to access slower storage and enabling PCs to handle more applications and browser tabs concurrently.
These optimizations are particularly beneficial for devices equipped with 8GB of RAM or less. A key feature includes loading widgets only when they are actively opened, freeing up over 200MB of memory for other processes. Beyond memory, the updates address Bluetooth headphone reliability, aiming for faster AirPods pairing. Windows Hello logins are also streamlined for improved ease, speed, and dependability.
Furthermore, Windows Insiders are previewing a revamped, AI-driven Search experience, transforming it into a chatbot-like interface capable of executing numerous actions directly. A new Photos app is also available to Insiders, featuring an enhanced gallery that aggregates images from local storage, OneDrive, and iCloud. The built-in editor and native viewer for the Photos app are reported to load significantly faster.
