Summary
- Windows 11 will soon let users freely reposition the taskbar.
- A leaked video showed taskbar movement via debug menus.
- Microsoft is also testing a resizable taskbar feature.

Microsoft is developing a significant new feature for Windows 11 that will enable users to freely reposition the taskbar. This enhancement, previously glimpsed in a deleted developer video, is expected to be accessible through Windows Settings upon its official release.
The leaked footage demonstrated the taskbar being moved to various screen edges, including the top, bottom, right, and left. While the video utilized debug menus for testing, the final version is anticipated to offer a more user-friendly interface within Windows Settings.
When repositioned, app icons adjust automatically. However, placing the taskbar on the right or left sides will cause the search bar to disappear, requiring users to click a magnifying glass icon for search access.
Beyond repositioning, Microsoft is also internally testing a feature to allow users to resize the taskbar, addressing another long-standing community request. These updates aim to modernize and enhance the Windows 11 user experience.
