- Microsoft offers no option to revert to the older Windows 11 Start menu design.

Microsoft has begun rolling out a substantially redesigned Start menu to all Windows 11 25H2 users, marking a significant visual change for the operating system. This update, distributed through KB5068861, introduces a much larger Start menu that can nearly double its previous screen height, displaying pinned apps, recommendations, and a full app list on a single page. Personalization options allow users to adjust the display of pinned apps and recommendations.
The new Start menu's dimensions have drawn attention, with reports indicating it covers up to 90 percent of screen height in some configurations, particularly when the Phone Link app is active. While designed to adapt to different screen sizes, it reportedly consumes considerable space on 1080p displays, appearing more balanced on 4K screens. The complete app list now offers category, compact grid, or classic list views, with adjustable "Show all" or "Show less" options.
