Microsoft has deployed a critical fix for a widespread Windows 11 issue that resulted in a black screen upon user login. This problem, identified as an issue affecting Windows Explorer in multi-user environments, caused Explorer.exe to repeatedly crash after sign-in, preventing the desktop from loading.
The fix is available via update KB5127648 for Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2. This bug first surfaced following the August Windows update, leaving many users with an unusable desktop.
Beyond the black screen resolution, the October update includes other significant improvements. Users experiencing gaming mouse stuttering should also see a performance improvement. Additionally, the update enhances Bluetooth reliability and introduces a remappable Copilot key, making it a comprehensive solution for several recent Windows 11 complaints.
