- Advanced Labs feature offers clinician-reviewed blood test reports.
- Healthspan feature quantifies physiological age for holistic health.
Four years after the Whoop 4.0's debut, the company has introduced two new health trackers: the Whoop 5.0 and the Whoop MG. These devices aim to attract a wider, health-focused consumer base, moving beyond their traditional athletic market. The new bands track sleep, activity, and recovery, incorporating innovative features like on-wrist blood pressure monitoring and ECG for detecting atrial fibrillation.
The Whoop MG, or Medical Grade model, offers advanced functionalities including ECG and blood pressure monitoring. A significant new offering is Advanced Labs, a service allowing users to schedule blood tests and receive clinician-reviewed reports and recommendations for an extra fee. This feature parallels services from competitors like Withings.
Another innovation is the Healthspan feature, developed in partnership with the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. It assesses overall health using nine biometrics to determine a user's physiological age. The Heart Screener on the Whoop MG provides ECG monitoring for high/low heart rates and atrial fibrillation, data that can be shared with healthcare providers.
These advancements signal a trend toward fitness trackers evolving into comprehensive health companions. The new Whoop models also boast a 14-plus-day battery life, a sleeker design, improved sleep tracking, and a ten times more efficient processor. Subscription tiers range from One ($199/year) to Peak ($239/year) and Life ($359/year), with the Life tier including the Whoop MG band and advanced sensor technology.
