WhatsApp is phasing out traditional voicemails by rolling out a new feature for missed calls. When a user misses a voice or video call, they will be prompted to record a voice or video message directly. This functionality bypasses the need to manually access chat toolbar options, offering a seamless experience akin to voicemail.

This update integrates existing voice note and video recording capabilities to serve the purpose of voicemails. Recipients will immediately see these messages upon opening their chats, ensuring prompt communication. The platform aims to streamline the process of leaving messages after unsuccessful call attempts.

Beyond missed call messaging, the update introduces several other enhancements. Users can now send reactions during voice chats and benefit from a feature that automatically identifies the active speaker in video calls. Furthermore, WhatsApp has integrated AI image generation tools powered by Midjourney and Flux AI models, following recent partnership agreements.
