Wemo Smart Devices Face Cloud Shutdown
30 Jan
Summary
- Most Wemo devices lose cloud access on January 30th, 2026.
- Remote access and smart home integrations will cease functioning.
- Certain Thread-based devices and HomeKit setups remain unaffected.

Belkin is phasing out cloud services for the majority of its Wemo smart home devices, a change effective January 30th, 2026. This significant discontinuation will result in the loss of remote access capabilities and integrations with systems like Google Home and Amazon Alexa for many users.
The company first announced this impending service termination in July. The shutdown encompasses a wide range of Wemo products, from smart plugs to specialized appliances. However, a select few devices incorporating Thread technology, including a 3-way smart light switch and a smart plug, will be exempt from these service changes.
Additionally, Wemo devices that have been configured through Apple's HomeKit platform will continue to operate. Users wishing to retain this functionality must ensure their devices are set up within HomeKit before the January 31st deadline. Belkin will also cease providing app updates for the Wemo application starting January 31st.
