Waymo Resumes Freeway Service After Software Fix

Waymo has now implemented software updates designed to enhance performance around construction zones. Consequently, the company is resuming freeway operations across its full service area. Service is also expected to return to San Francisco and Los Angeles within days.
In San Francisco, Waymo faced scrutiny following an incident on July 4th. Onlookers captured video of Waymo vehicles appearing to block streets during extreme traffic congestion after fireworks, an event that has contributed to local calls for nationwide regulation of robotaxis.
