VW Polo Goes Electric: Power Bank on Wheels!
14 Sep
Summary
- Electric Polo doubles as a car power bank with adapter.
- It offers two battery options for up to 280 miles.
- The EV boasts a fresh interior with retro design elements.

Volkswagen's long-awaited electric Polo has arrived, reviving a beloved nameplate for the electric age. This new EV maintains familiar dimensions and front-wheel-drive configuration, measuring four meters in length. Volkswagen has enhanced the interior significantly, featuring soft-touch materials, designer stitching, and unique "pause and play" pedal markers.
A standout feature is the ability to use the electric Polo as a mobile power bank, thanks to an adapter that connects to household appliances. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like camping and picnics.
The electric Polo is available with two battery options, providing ranges of approximately 200 miles and up to 280 miles on a single charge. Power outputs vary, with the base model at 116hp and a faster version reaching 211hp. All versions are front-wheel drive.
The cabin offers a refreshed feel with customizable displays and functional physical buttons for climate control and volume. A "retro mode" presents Mk1 Golf-inspired dials, though its functionality is limited. Rear passengers enjoy ample space, but a lack of phone holders on headrests is noted.
Boot space is generous, exceeding that of a petrol Polo and even a Golf, due to the absence of exhaust components. However, the boot release mechanism, requiring pressure on a fixed VW badge, may lead to dirty fingers. A performance GTI version is also confirmed to be forthcoming.
