The automotive landscape has rapidly transformed, with Vauxhall adapting by electrifying popular models like the Corsa and Astra to maintain competitiveness against new electric vehicles and cheap imports. The updated Astra now features a consistent pricing of £29,995 for all its available powertrains: petrol hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric, eliminating the previous extra cost for estate models.
Significant price reductions are notable, with the plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions becoming £5,000 cheaper than their predecessors. Vauxhall's strategy, as stated by boss Eurig Druce, focuses on meeting British consumer demands with accessible choices. The new Astra boasts a redesigned exterior with a narrower 'Vauxhall Vizor' and illuminated Griffin logo, alongside interior upgrades such as ergonomic seats and a 10-inch touchscreen.
The fully electric Astra now offers an extended range of 281 miles, an increase of 22 miles. Furthermore, it gains the capability to act as a mobile power bank. This evolution pays homage to the Astra's history, with many drivers having learned in similar models, recalling iconic versions like the Mk2 GTE and the Astravan.
