A rugged mobile NAS, the UnifyDrive UP6, is now available for purchase after its initial announcement a year ago. This device merges portable flash storage, networking capabilities, and battery backup into a single, compact unit.
Primarily aimed at photographers and videographers, the UP6 facilitates rapid local file backups and management outside of a traditional office setting. Its integrated 6-inch touchscreen serves as the primary interface, allowing users to manage files, monitor system status, and preview content without external devices.
The device is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor, enabling on-device tasks like file organization and AI search. It comes with 16GB of DDR5 memory and supports up to 96GB, with storage capacity expandable up to 48TB via six PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD slots.
Future updates are planned to add slideshow capabilities and enhanced media streaming and backup features directly on the device. An integrated UPS offers up to two hours of runtime, with automatic shutdown to prevent data loss during power outages.
Connectivity options are robust, including dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, 10GbE Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. The UP6 can also function as an access point, creating a local network for file sharing when Wi-Fi is unavailable.
