10 Dec
Summary
- Average Briton spends 4.5 hours daily on digital devices.
- Women spend 26 minutes longer online daily than men.
- Gen Z adults spend over six hours daily on digital devices.

A recent report indicates that the average person in the UK spends 4.5 hours daily engaged with digital devices. This represents a 10-minute increase from the previous year and equates to over a quarter of their waking hours. Women are spending more time online than men, with an average daily usage of four hours and 43 minutes.
Younger demographics exhibit the highest engagement, with individuals aged 18 to 24, known as Gen Z, spending a remarkable six hours and 20 minutes online daily, including over five hours on smartphones. As individuals age, daily screen time tends to decrease, though those over 65 still average over three hours daily.
Despite increased usage, public perception of the internet's societal benefit has declined. Two-thirds of adults reported encountering harmful content recently. Conversely, children generally feel more positive about their online experiences, though concerns about mental health impacts from social media, particularly among teenage girls, persist.
