Ugreen, a company known for power banks and chargers, has launched its HomeAgent smart home platform. This new system combines security camera storage, on-device AI, and smart home control, all managed by a voice assistant named Uliya. The core promise is that all operations run locally, addressing privacy and subscription concerns prevalent in smart home technology.
The HomeAgent system features a central hub that processes video footage and AI tasks on-device, ensuring data never leaves the user's home. This local-first approach eliminates the need for monthly fees often associated with cloud storage services from competitors. Ugreen highlights features like cross-camera tracking and smart alerts for people, vehicles, and packages.
Compatible with the Matter smart home standard, the HomeAgent hub allows integration with third-party devices. Ugreen plans to offer various hub configurations, with the top-tier MasterAgent MA100 utilizing NVIDIA's Jetson Thor T5000 platform for advanced AI capabilities. While remote viewing and notifications require internet access, the primary processing and data storage remain local.
Ugreen is also introducing a companion smart speaker for Uliya and a line of SynCare security cameras. Additionally, a digital photo frame that displays photos stored on the hub without cloud upload is part of the ecosystem. The HomeAgent hub is set to launch on Kickstarter in October.
