Health technology company TriZetto has reported a significant data breach originating from a 2024 cyberattack. The incident led to the compromise of personal and health information belonging to more than 3.4 million individuals. Notably, TriZetto, a subsidiary of Cognizant, failed to detect the unauthorized access for almost a full year.
The breach was discovered on October 2, 2025, but investigations revealed hackers had maintained access since November 2024. The stolen data encompasses sensitive personal details such as names, dates of birth, home addresses, and Social Security numbers. Additionally, critical healthcare information, including provider names and insurance details, was also exfiltrated.
Several healthcare organizations utilizing TriZetto's services have confirmed patient data was impacted. This includes OCHIN, a non-profit serving hundreds of rural and community care providers across the U.S., and various providers in California. TriZetto has stated that not all its clients were affected by this specific incident.
