Threads Web Gets Major Overhaul, Finally Adding DMs

Meta has initiated testing for a substantial redesign of the Threads web interface, aiming to enhance user experience significantly. This update finally brings direct messaging to the web, a feature that has been available on the mobile app since June of last year. The new layout introduces a dedicated inbox and a more intuitive navigation system.

Additionally, the web version will feature new shortcuts on its left rail, providing quicker access to saved posts, insights, and activity. While these elements were previously accessible, their placement was often obscure. This redesign marks a notable shift, as Meta has primarily concentrated its development efforts on the Threads mobile app in recent months.

This web revamp follows closely on the heels of recent mobile app adjustments, which include a slight indentation for replies to improve conversation clarity. The company has confirmed that further investments are planned for the Threads web platform. It remains unclear when the complete rollout of the new web design will occur.
