Tesla has introduced its stretched, three-row, six-seat SUV, the Model Y L, in the US and Puerto Rico. The automaker confirmed the launch on Thursday, making the vehicle configurable online. This new Model Y L variant adds 150 mm to the wheelbase and approximately 180 mm to the overall length, accommodating a 2+2+2 seating arrangement.
The second row features independent captain's chairs, while the third row offers heated seats. Tesla claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and an EPA-estimated range of 325 miles for the Model Y L. The vehicle also includes 89 cubic feet of cargo space and a premium 19-speaker audio system.
The Model Y L arrives first as a "Launch Series" priced at $61,990. This is significantly higher than its anticipated US price and also surpasses Tesla's own Model Y Performance and major three-row EV competitors like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.
Tesla previously launched the Model Y L in China in August 2025, with prices around $47,000. The company has historically used a "Launch Series" strategy, offering a fully-loaded, higher-priced version first. Analysts suggest that more affordable configurations are likely to follow.
