At the recent Pwn2Own Automotive conference in Tokyo, security researchers demonstrated a successful hack of a Tesla's infotainment system. The Synacktiv Team exploited zero-day vulnerabilities through a USB-based attack, securing a $35,000 prize and gaining root-level access. This event was part of a larger competition where over half a million dollars in prizes were awarded within the first 24 hours.
Several other automotive components were targeted, including car chargers and charging connectors. The Fuzzware.io team was a top performer, earning $118,000. A total of 37 zero-day flaws were showcased, giving companies 90 days to address these security issues before public disclosure.
