Tesla FSD Lawsuit Settled After Fatal Arizona Crash

Tesla has resolved a lawsuit involving the death of Johna Story, a 71-year-old woman in Arizona. The settlement follows an incident where Story was struck and killed by a Tesla Model Y operating on the company's Full Self-Driving system. This marks the first documented pedestrian fatality associated with Tesla's automated driving technology. The incident also led to an inquiry by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into the system's capabilities in low visibility scenarios.

The lawsuit specifically targeted Tesla's Full Self-Driving (now Full Self-Driving (Supervised)) feature, differentiating it from previous cases that involved the Autopilot system. Previously, Tesla settled another lawsuit concerning a fatal crash where the driver was reportedly using Autopilot. However, the company continues to face legal challenges, with a new lawsuit alleging a fatal accident involving a Model 3 driver who may have been using an automated driving assistance system.
