Final Chance: Tesla FSD One-Time Fee Ends Soon!
7 Feb
Summary
- Tesla's $8,000 Full Self-Driving fee ends February 14.
- New $99 monthly subscription costs more long-term.
- Basic Autopilot features are being phased out.

Tesla is ending its one-time $8,000 fee for Full Self-Driving (FSD) software on February 14. This date represents the final opportunity to acquire the hands-off driving feature for a single payment. Following this deadline, Tesla will replace the one-time purchase option with a $99 monthly subscription.
Over the typical ownership period of eight years, the subscription model is projected to cost $9,600, exceeding the one-time fee by $1,600. Elon Musk indicated that the monthly price may increase in the future, with a vision for unsupervised FSD. Currently, users must remain attentive and ready to intervene at all times.
Customers can subscribe via the Tesla app or vehicle dashboard, provided their vehicle has the necessary hardware. Separately, Tesla has discontinued basic Autopilot features, such as Autosteer, which centered the vehicle in its lane. Only Traffic-Aware Cruise Control remains as standard. This strategic shift intensifies the company's focus on AI, including autonomous vehicles and robotics, as seen with the repurposing of production lines for Optimus robots.
