Dutch Regulator Denies Tesla FSD Approval Claims

Tesla's European market X account prematurely announced that Dutch regulator RDW had approved the company's Full Self-Driving (FSD) driver-assistance system for the EU. However, RDW has since clarified that no such approval has been granted, expressing a desire for Tesla enthusiasts to stop contacting them regarding the issue. While a timeline exists for Tesla to demonstrate FSD Supervised meets safety requirements by February 2026, this is not an approval.

RDW has confirmed a schedule with Tesla, outlining the necessary steps for potential FSD approval in February 2026. The regulator stressed that the decision will solely depend on meeting rigorous safety standards, and acknowledged receiving numerous inquiries from Tesla fans, which it asked to cease. RDW emphasized that public contact will not sway their decision-making process.

This development follows Elon Musk's recent call for customer support in Europe to encourage regulators to approve FSD. Gaining approval from RDW is considered a crucial step for Tesla's FSD system to be widely adopted across the EU, as the company has yet to launch it in Europe despite earlier rollouts in the US.
