Tesla Cybercab Production Accelerates at Giga Texas
24 Apr
Summary
- Tesla's Cybercab, a fully autonomous electric vehicle, is now in production.
- Early Cybercab models lack steering wheels and pedals, unlike current Robotaxis.
- Cybercabs are expected to eventually replace Tesla's current Model Y Robotaxi fleet.

Videos have emerged showing Tesla's Cybercab autonomous vehicles on the production line at the Giga Texas factory in Austin. Tesla's Robotaxi account also shared footage of Cybercabs forming a convoy on a highway. Production of the Cybercab was previously moved to 2026, but Tesla now expects volume production of both the Cybercab and the Tesla Semi electric truck this year (2026).
At launch in 2024, Elon Musk projected Tesla would produce 2 million Cybercabs annually. While initial production may be in the hundreds weekly, the company has a history of production delays. The Cybercab, unveiled in 2024, is designed with butterfly doors and will operate without a steering wheel or pedals.
