Summary
- Tecno showcased a Pova Neon with a lightning effect.
- A modular phone concept uses magnets for attachable accessories.
- The Slim 2 boasts an ultra-thin design and a notification display.

Tecno recently showcased several innovative concept devices at MWC, pushing the boundaries of mobile phone design. Among the highlights was the Pova Neon, featuring a rear panel chamber with ionized inert gas that creates a captivating lightning effect, which moves as the user touches the screen. This device, however, was tethered to a base module, suggesting the displayed technology might require external support.
The company also presented a revival of the modular phone concept with its Moda Edition. Employing magnetic connections, this system allows users to attach numerous accessories, dubbed 'mods,' to the phone's back. These mods range from a complete camera with zoom capabilities to stackable battery packs and action cameras, offering expanded functionality beyond the core device.
Tecno positions this modularity as a way to keep the primary phone lightweight for daily use, with enhanced features available on demand via the mods. This concept echoes earlier modular phone attempts and could offer carriers new accessory sales opportunities.
Another concept, the Slim 2, mimics the iPhone Air's design with an ultra-thin unibody construction measuring just 5.49mm. It features a nearly all-screen front with minimal bezels and a notable camera module. Uniquely, the Slim 2 incorporates a small display on its camera module capable of showing notifications and animations, including a smiling face, adding a playful element to the device.
