Tecno, a budget smartphone brand, has introduced a concept phone called the Bezelless, demonstrating the possibility of a truly bezel-free display. The device features a 6.78-inch, 144Hz, 1.5K screen that extends to the very edge of the phone's frame. This innovative design hides the inactive edge of the OLED panel by using two layers of cover glass, with the lower layer and display extending underneath the top layer.
This construction required mounting the display from the rear and securing it with custom adhesive. While the frame itself might be slightly thicker than on some flagship phones, the visual impact is significant. The Bezelless concept, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400e chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, boasts a 6,000mAh battery and includes 50MP main and 8MP ultrawide rear cameras, plus a 32MP front camera.
Though Tecno claims it redefines user interaction in the AI era, its primary impact is aesthetic, making the display feel more expansive. The company also showcased other concepts, including a color-changing E Ink phone and a magnetic modular device, though the Bezelless is unlikely to reach mass production soon. This development, however, fuels speculation about future bezel-less smartphones, such as rumored iPhones planned for their 20th anniversary.
