Taiwan is set to unveil its ambitious "Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects" initiative, aimed at transforming the island into a global leader in artificial intelligence. The plan, announced by Premier Cho Jung-tai, targets the generation of over T$15 trillion ($510 billion) in economic value by 2040.
Taiwan's strategy leverages its strengths in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and world-leading semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The government has identified three core technologies as strategic priorities: silicon photonics, quantum technology, and AI robotics.
By aligning these sectors with future AI development needs, Taiwan hopes to position itself as a global hub for cutting-edge technologies. The country also plans to establish a quantum technology industry chain and expand investment in AI innovation, with over T$100 billion ($3.08 billion) in venture capital funding.
The initiative aims to create 500,000 jobs and set up three international-level research laboratories, further cementing Taiwan's status as a "smart technology island" and a global AI influencer.
