Valve has officially released its Steam Link application for Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset. This development allows users to stream games from their existing Steam library directly to the Vision Pro wirelessly. The streamed games are traditional 2D titles, not virtual reality experiences, though this release may indicate future possibilities for VR content.
The Steam Link app previously supported other Apple devices like Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs. This new integration provides a more direct and user-friendly method for accessing Steam games on the Vision Pro compared to third-party solutions. Interested users can currently access the app through Apple's TestFlight beta platform.
Valve has stated that the current iteration of the app offers streaming capabilities up to 4K resolutions. Additionally, users have the ability to adjust the display's curve dynamically when in panoramic mode. This move by Valve addresses some of the earlier criticisms regarding the Vision Pro's limited connectivity with external gaming and media devices.
