Valve Halts Official Steam Deck Battery Supply
15 Jul
Summary
- Valve appears to be discontinuing official replacement batteries for the Steam Deck.
- An iFixit staffer confirmed no immediate plans to stock OEM batteries.
- Valve has reportedly stopped supplying these parts to iFixit.

Valve has reportedly ceased supplying official replacement batteries for the original LCD Steam Deck. An iFixit employee informed a customer that the company has no immediate plans to stock these OEM parts. This development suggests Valve is phasing out official battery replacements for a device released just four years ago.
The situation arises as Valve is reportedly ending its supply of these components to iFixit. While third-party batteries are available, the lack of official replacements could affect the Steam Deck's long-term repairability. iFixit is reportedly exploring aftermarket options.
This move coincides with Valve discontinuing the LCD Steam Deck entirely at the end of 2025. Following stock issues, the Steam Deck OLED saw price increases in May, attributed by Valve to rising memory and storage costs. The Steam Machine was later launched in June with prices starting at $1,049.
