- StarStream aims to enhance fan engagement and sponsorship value in motorsports.

StarStream, a new video and content streaming service, is transforming how off-road races are broadcast, especially from remote and inaccessible locations.
Utilizing Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellite internet, StarStream allows race teams to transmit live video feeds, overcoming the challenges of difficult terrain and lack of traditional infrastructure.
Developed by George Hammel, the system consists of a compact box with two GoPros, one capturing audio and the other video, tethered to a Starlink Mini. This enables fans to experience races from inside the vehicle, including driver and pit crew conversations.
The technology proved its worth during a race in Laughlin, Nevada, and notably at the demanding King of the Hammers event. There, Paul Wolff used StarStream to broadcast his struggles in real-time to thousands of fans, highlighting the system's ability to connect audiences with dramatic moments.
This innovation not only benefits fans by providing an immersive viewing experience but also offers significant advantages for sponsors, as seen with increased merchandise sales and brand visibility during events like King of the Hammers.
While not without its challenges, such as potential signal obstructions in canyons, StarStream represents a significant leap in broadcasting capabilities for motorsports, making previously impossible live coverage a reality.
