Starlink App Downloads Skyrocket in US
16 Apr
Summary
- Starlink app downloads and active users more than doubled globally year-over-year.
- US downloads surged 223% in the first quarter of 2026.
- Brazil shows highest user growth, now representing 13% of global users.

SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service is experiencing substantial user growth, particularly in the United States. In the first quarter of 2026, global downloads and monthly active users for the Starlink app more than doubled compared to the previous year.
Downloads in the US alone spiked by 223% year-over-year during the first quarter of 2026, reaching the highest single-quarter figure ever recorded. This surge in US downloads and a nearly 150% increase in monthly active users highlight the effectiveness of SpaceX's aggressive discounts and expanded retail presence.
Globally, Starlink surpassed 10 million active customers in February 2026, up from 5 million a year prior. While the US accounts for approximately 37% of active users, Latin America is a fast-growing region. Brazil, in particular, saw a 450% year-over-year increase in monthly active users, now making up 13% of the global user base.
However, growth is not uniform across all markets. Canada's user base has remained stagnant, and Germany has seen a significant decline in users from its mid-2025 peak, possibly due to competitive pressures or regulatory challenges.
