Spotify Testing Direct Feedback Notes for Music Recs

Spotify is reportedly testing a significant new feature that could revolutionize how users personalize their music recommendations. This unreleased 'Notes' functionality, spotted within Spotify version 9.1.28.385, suggests users will soon be able to provide direct written feedback on their music suggestions. Currently, users can only manually exclude tracks or playlists, a method often described as perfunctory.

The new 'Notes' feature aims to offer a more nuanced way to guide Spotify's algorithms. Users might be able to write explanations or prompts, similar to interacting with AI models like ChatGPT. This would allow for more precise control over the Taste Profile, which influences Discover Weekly playlists and personalized summaries.

While still in testing, if launched, this feature could provide a unique level of personalized music curation not currently offered by other streaming services. Spotify has been actively enhancing its user experience with recent updates like 'About the Song' and lyrics translation perks.
