SpaceX Prototype AI Handset Sparks Speculation

SpaceX has reportedly developed a prototype for an AI device, a concept it allegedly presented to investors. Described as slimmer and sleeker than an iPhone, this "handset-like" device is still in early development, with its design subject to change. Elon Musk, however, has publicly denied these reports, labeling them "utterly false."

Despite the denial, the notion aligns with SpaceX's growing expertise in manufacturing and its potential expansion into wireless services through Starlink Mobile. The prototype is rumored to run on a proprietary operating system and integrate technology from Musk's AI company, xAI, aiming for native AI interfaces independent of existing platforms.

This development comes as OpenAI, collaborating with Jony Ive and Apple executives, is also reportedly working on its own AI hardware. Both SpaceX and OpenAI appear to be venturing into a market that has seen previous AI device launches from companies like Humane and Rabbit face significant challenges, raising questions about consumer demand for such products.
