Sony has released its new ULT Tower 5 party speaker, reasserting its dominance in the market with impressive performance and a portable design. This compact speaker delivers a powerful 300W output, featuring ground-shaking bass, refined treble, and an expansive soundstage that promises an immersive listening experience.
The Tower 5, announced in September 2026, is part of Sony's second-generation party speakers. It stands out with a sophisticated design, featuring classier reactive lighting and an all-matte black finish. Its portability is enhanced by four integrated carry handles, making it easy to move despite its 28lb weight. The speaker is IPX4 rated for splash resistance.
Connectivity is a strong suit, with Bluetooth 5.3 supporting LDAC codecs and multipoint pairing for two devices. The Party Chain feature allows synchronization with up to 100 Sony speakers. Wired options include USB-C, USB-A, a 6.3mm mic/instrument jack, RCA, and XLR inputs/outputs, catering to various musical needs.
Sound quality is exceptional, with the ULT 1 profile delivering deep, tactile bass and the ULT 2 profile offering enhanced energy. Even at high volumes, the bass remains controlled and clear. The Flat profile provides a neutral sound, while the treble is airy and lively, reproducing intricate details accurately.
The Sony Sound Connect app offers extensive customization, including a 10-band equalizer and LED lighting control, alongside unique Party Pad features for live audio effects. Battery life is rated up to 20 hours, and it includes a Stamina mode to conserve power. The speaker can also charge external devices via its USB ports.
