Sony Tests Secret Dynamic PS5 Game Pricing
9 Mar
Summary
- Sony is testing dynamic pricing on the PlayStation Store.
- Discounts up to 17.6% are offered to select players.
- The program is active in 68 regions but not the US.

Sony is currently experimenting with dynamic pricing on the PlayStation Store, a move that could mean gamers pay different prices for the same titles. This large-scale test, codenamed 'IPT_PILOT,' began in November 2025 and has expanded to 68 regions worldwide, though it is not active in the United States.
Select players are reportedly receiving discounts of up to 17.6% on more than 150 games. These personalized offers include first-party PlayStation 5 titles like Astro Bot and God of War Ragnarök, with some German users seeing a 12.5% reduction on these games. Third-party titles also feature significant cuts, such as 17.6% off WWE 2K25.
It remains unclear why certain players are being offered lower prices, but Sony may be attempting to stimulate sales among less frequent buyers. The absence of this pilot program in the US might be linked to regulatory considerations. This development follows a separate report suggesting Sony may reduce its practice of releasing PS5 exclusive games on PC within a few years of their console debut.
